CELEBRATING 20 YEARS WITH BEEP
UPS operates in every community in the U.S. and more than 200 countries and territories around the world. We have long recognized that our business success is driven by the diversity of our employees, customers, vendors, and business partners.
For nearly 50 years, The UPS Foundation has supported the work of organizations promoting diversity to bridge opportunities in education, economic empowerment, and leadership development for the traditionally underserved and underrepresented.
In 2009, the Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP), a voluntary partnership between the National Urban League, corporations, and historically Black Colleges and Universities, celebrated its 40th anniversary. It also marked UPS’s 20th year of involvement with the program.
BEEP places African-American executives at participating colleges as “visiting professors” to lecture in credit-bearing courses and to participate in other activities such as networking sessions, workshops, and mock job interviews.
UPS’s partnership with BEEP began in 1989 with five participants. UPS is currently the largest corporate sponsor, donating more than $2.5 million to date to the program and providing nearly 100 executives who volunteer each year to serve as teachers, mentors, and role models.
