In Remembrance of Board Member Darnell W. Clay, Sr.

Louisville - Darnell W. Clay, Sr. 70, passed away January 22, 2016.

Darnell was employed for 35 years with United Parcel Service (UPS) and served as Operations Division Manager. He achieved excellent results and provided outstanding leadership throughout his tenure with UPS.  Darnell retired in 1999 after a stellar career.

Darnell served as an Usher, Chairman of the Trustee Board and a member of the Scholarship Committee at Green Castle Baptist Church. He also served as an active Board Member for the MARCH Foundation.

"Darnell joined the Board and immediately brought new ideas, enthusiasm and passion for helping our youth," said Kenneth D. Parks, MARCH Board Chairman. "His presence will be sorely missed. We extend our deepest condolences to Angelyn and the entire Clay family."

Darnell's service went beyond the MARCH Foundation and Green Castle Baptist Church. He believed in giving back to his community. He was a member of 100 Black Men, Jefferson County Public Schools, Everyone Reads Program, The Sponsors, Kentucky African Americans Against Cancer (KAAAC), and Metro United Way. He was a graduate of the Leadership Louisville Center, Inc. and a member of the LInksman and Ye Ole Esquire Club.

Darnell was preceded in death by his parents; Estelle and Frank A. Clay, Sr., his brother Frank A. Clay Jr. and his grandson, David A. Clay. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Angelyn Clay; mother, Nannie L. Howard; children, Sharon Clay-Burney (Nathaniel) and Darnell W. Clay Jr.(Michelle); siblings, Antha R. Perry (John), Benjamin R. Wells (Lisa) and John A. Clay (Bettie); grandchildren, Darnell W. Clay III, Nathaniel C. Burney and Trinity C. Clay; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
